Divorce Certificate/Decree Apostille

A Divorce Certificate / Divorce Decree Apostille is the process of legalizing your court-issued divorce document so it is accepted in Hague Convention member countries. The Apostille is issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), India, and certifies that your divorce document is genuine and internationally valid.

Who Needs It?

  • Planning to remarry abroad.
  • Applying for a residence permit, visa, or citizenship where marital status proof is mandatory.
  • Handling child custody, property, or legal disputes in a foreign country.
  • Proving marital status for immigration, migration, or official purposes.

Process of Divorce Certificate / Divorce Decree Apostille

  1. 1 Notary Attestation – Local notary verifies the document.
  2. 3 Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Attestation – Legal authentication of the document.
  3. 5 MEA Apostille – Final Apostille sticker/seal from the Ministry of External Affairs.
